Ranchi: The death anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was commemorated at the Congress Bhawan on Tuesday. On this occasion, Congress leaders and party workers paid floral tributes to Nehru’s portrait and expressed their heartfelt homage.
While paying their respects, the leaders reflected on various facets of Nehru’s life and legacy. They recalled his immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle, highlighting that he spent over a decade in prison during the movement. Following independence, his visionary leadership laid the foundation for a modern India.
Often referred to as the architect of modern India, Nehru introduced the concept of Panchsheel to the world and championed the equal participation of all Indian states in nation-building. He also played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s diplomatic relations with other countries to foster economic development.
During his tenure, Nehru actively promoted industrialization, spearheaded social reforms, and established India’s foreign policy based on the principle of non-alignment.
Prominent among those who paid their respects were State Congress Media In-charge Rakesh Sinha, Sonal Shanti, Jagdish Sahu, Naveen Singh, Suren Ram, Narendra Kumar Lal, Prabhat Kumar, Kamta Paswan, Bholanath Singh, Manoj Kumar Singh, Mohsin Ahmed, Rambachan Paswan, and Arun Prasad.
