CM directs officials to expand the scope of Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme

Ranchi: Chief Minister Champai Soren on Tuesday directed the officials to fix the criteria for selection of beneficiaries of the LPG subsidy scheme of the state government at the earliest. The Chief Minister was chairing a high-level review meeting of the schemes run by the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department here today.

He said that this is a very important scheme of the state government which aims to provide gas cylinders to the poor and deprived families at an affordable rate so that they can use it regularly.

The Chief Minister said that Jharkhand should take initiative to expand the scope of State Food Security Scheme. Under this, the target set for issuing green ration cards should be increased. Take immediate steps to connect new beneficiaries to the scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the Chief Minister’s Support Scheme for Subsidy on Petrol Purchase for Two Wheelers was launched. However, the scheme did not yield good results. In such a situation, to take maximum benefit of this scheme, there is a need to bring changes in its guidelines and format. The Chief Minister directed the officials to simplify the guidelines of this scheme, so that this scheme proves to be meaningful.

The Chief Minister said that to provide one-time meal to the poor at just Rs 5, many Dal Bhaat Kendras are running in cities and rural areas. He stressed the need to strengthen these Dal-Bhat Kendras and said that appropriate steps should be taken to keep it clean and beautiful. The state government is trying to ensure that as many poor people as possible get food at these centres.

The Chief Minister said that the quality of dhotis / lungis and sarees given under the Sona-Sobaran Dhoti-Sari distribution scheme should be good. He asked the officials to provide dhotis / lungis and sarees in packets to the beneficiaries.

Khiangte, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Avinash Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Arwa Rajkamal, Secretary Food Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Amitabh Kaushal, OSD Satish Chandra Chaudhary, Joint Secretary Deepak Kumar, Managing Director JSFC Satyendra Kumar, Director Food Consumer Affairs Dilip Tirkey and Controller Legal Metrology Krishan Chandra Chaudhary.
