Chief Minister presented with a portrait painting made by Padma Shri Krishna Kanhai

Ranchi: Eminent artist (painter) Padma Shri Krishna Kanhai hailing from Vrindavan paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Hemant Soren. On this occasion, he gifted the Chief Minister a self-made portrait painting of him (Hemant Soren) and former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren.

The Chief Minister thanked him for this beautiful painting and honoured him with felicitation and mementos. Chief Minister’s wife Kalpana Soren and MLA Jai Mangal Singh were also present on the occasion. Krishna Kanhai told the Chief Minister that his father was also an eminent painter.

He had been awarded the Padma Shri award in the year 2000. At the same time, he was awarded the Padma Shri award in the year 2004. The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride for both of them to get the Padma Shri award in the field of arts. He informed the Chief Minister that a portrait painting of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpai made by him has been installed in the Central Hall of Parliament.

Apart from this, 58 paintings have got a place in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In this, 22 paintings are of various Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh. Paintings made on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been installed in the museum of the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Krishna Kanhai has also received many awards and honors for his important contribution to the field of art.

He has been awarded the Kalidas Samman (2009) by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Yash Bharti Award (2015) by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, his name is recorded in London’s World Book of Records (2020). Apart from this, an article on his contribution to the field of art has also been published in the international Forbes Magazine.
