Chief Electoral Officer conducted surprise inspection of 6 random polling stations in two districts, gave ultimatum to improve minimum facilities

Jamshedpur : Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said, continuous efforts are being made to improve the condition of all the polling stations in the state.

Recently, a random social audit of 600 polling booths of the state was conducted by the Social Audit Unit, in which the report was not satisfactory.

On this, the Chief Electoral Officer has not only issued instructions to the officers of his department to go to the districts to see the ground situation, but he himself is also going to different districts to see the situation.

On Tuesday K. Ravi Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of some booths in two districts, Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan, where the ground situation was not as per the standards required by the Election Commission of India.

On this, he issued a semi-official letter not only to the Deputy Commissioners of the above two districts but also to all the Deputy Commissioners cum District Election Officers of the state and gave an ultimatum of three weeks that within the above mentioned time limit, the status of all the polling stations of the state should be as determined by the Election Commission of India.

Not only should it conform to the standards but should be better than those standards.

He said that if the polling stations are clean, well-groomed and equipped with minimum requirements, then a good atmosphere will definitely be created and our objective of ‘family-voting’ will be strengthened.

He said that just as we celebrate our festivals with cleanliness and decoration, so that elections can also be celebrated like a festival, first of all we will have to make our polling centers clean.

During this visit, local officials including Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer and Superintendent of Police of the respective districts were present with him.
