Ranchi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against individuals involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit blood sugar testing strips used by diabetes patients. The FIR names Vikas Goyal, owner of M/s Vikas Enterprises, and Sneha Saxena, owner of Global Star, as accused.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly produced fake “OneTouch” glucose strips and lancets under the name of U.S.-based company LifeScan, and sold them via the e-commerce platform Amazon for nearly five years.
The FIR was filed following complaints from Richa Bakshi, a representative of Amazon, and Aditya Goswami, representing LifeScan. LifeScan is known globally for its authentic diabetes testing products.
The CBI stated that Vikas Enterprises, based in Vikaspuri, Delhi, and Global Star knowingly sold these counterfeit products not only in India but also internationally through Amazon, posing serious health risks to consumers.
Amazon reportedly received 389 customer complaints regarding fake products, out of which 226 were linked to Vikas Enterprises and 123 to Global Star. The products in question were labeled “OneTouch Ultra” and “OneTouch Verio,” which were allegedly counterfeit.
Between September 2017 and May 2022, Vikas Enterprises sold 78,420 fake OneTouch glucose strips, while Global Star sold 14,200 units.
