Body of martyr Assistant Commandant reaches Ranchi; GUV and CM pay tributes

Ranchi: The body of CRPF’s Assistant Commandant Shanti Bhushan Tirkey who was martyred in the maoist attack in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh reached Ranchi on Sunday morning.

On reaching Ranchi, the body of the martyr was given a salute by the security forces.  The family members of the martyr were also present during this.  After the salute, the body was sent to Dibdih in Ranchi.  During this, the entire locality had gathered in the honour of the martyr.  As soon as the coffin along with the convoy of vehicles entered the locality, people raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Shaheed Shanti Amar Rahe.

Earlier the body was brought from Chhattisgarh to Jharkhand via air wrapped in tricolour.  Seeing the mortal remains the  the family members from wife, children to everyone present on the spot were in tears in.

Shanti Bhushan’s family lives in Ranchi itself.  He was originally from Simdega district.  He was born in Kasira Gobrigadha village of Bolba block of Simdega.  He had joined the CRPF 168th Battalion on 25 February 2003.

Shanti Bhushan Tirkey’s father’s Stephen Tirkey had served in BSF. He is survived by wife Pushpa Manjula Minj and has two children. His elder son Aniket Tirkey studies in class V while his younger daughter Anne Anisha Tirkey is two years old.

The dead body of the martyr was landed at Ranchi airport at 9.45 am by an army helicopter.  From the airport, the body was transported to the camp of 133rd Battalion by placing it in a vehicle decorated with flowers of CRPF.

Later the martyr was laid to rest as per the customs of the family.
