‘Best of Britain’ photography exhibition inaugurated at JSCA cricket stadium in Ranchi

Ranchi: Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India and senior officials of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association inaugurated the ‘Best of Britain’ photography exhibition at the Hall of Fame, Amitabh Chaudhary Pavilion of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) international cricket stadium in Ranchi on Wednesday.

The British Deputy High Commission family is committed to strengthen the rich relationship between UK and India through sports diplomacy. Cricket is an important pillar of this relationship. England is celebrating the cricket ties between our two countries all throughout the Cricket World Cup 2023 for their bilateral Test Series against India from January to March 2024.

The ‘Best of Britain’ photography exhibition depicts a rich and vivid visual tapestry of the UK’s tourist attractions, landmarks, offbeat places and places to visit. One of the key thematic highlights of the exhibition is cricket. The British Deputy High Commissioner said, we have picked photos of UK-India cricket activities including our engagement on women’s cricket.

Images of the England cricket team are also shown through this exhibition. We have shone the spotlight on places like Wales, England and Scotland by creating an immersive experience for visitors. 

Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India said: “India and UK relations are alive with opportunities and cricket is a great catalyst in connecting our nations. The ongoing Test Series between India and England is at an exciting stage with India leading 2-1. We are delighted to partner with the Jharkhand State Cricket Association to host this exhibition for the people of Jharkhand.

Through this exhibition, we hope to showcase a visual glimpse of my country to spectators attending the Test match.” Debasish Chakraborty, Secretary, Jharkhand State Cricket Association said, “Cricket has always played a crucial role in uniting nations and we have witnessed some remarkable moments between these two cricketing powerhouses.

This exhibition truly celebrates the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and the shared love for the game that transcends borders. The Test Match between India and England is the perfect backdrop for showcasing the beauty of the sport and the unforgettable moments that have defined the cricketing history between India and England.” The exhibition will be put up for visitors coming to watch the Test match from 23 February until the end of the match.
