Before Chhath, Municipal Corporation to beautify four ponds for Rs 30 lakhs

Ranchi:  Before Chhath Puja, Ranchi Municipal Corporation will beautify four major ponds at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. These include Jail Pond, Chadri Pond, Argora Pond and Swarn Rekha Chhath Pond. Corporation officials said that there are 70 small and big reservoirs in Ranchi city. There are many reservoirs which cannot be used. Due to which the citizens celebrating Chhath have to face a lot of problems. Therefore, this time the Municipal Corporation has decided to beautify the four major ponds of the city. So that people do not face any problem in celebrating the festival during Chhath.

Along with this, the Municipal Corporation will also clean all the Chhath Ghats and put up red ribbons. So that people do not go deeper and any untoward incident does not happen. Changing rooms will also be made at all the ghats. The filth spread in the ghats will be cleaned by the Municipal Corporation. Also, dangerous places in grass cutting and ponds will be identified.

Additional Administrator of the Municipal Corporation, Kunwar Singh Pahan said that every year before Chhath, all the ghats are cleaned by the Municipal Corporation. This year too, a special campaign is being conducted to clean the city. Besides, beautification work of four ponds of the city will be done at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. A tender has been floated for this. 

The work will be completed after selecting the companies soon. These ponds will be beautified Ward 18 Jail Pond – 16.8 lakh, Ward 18 Chadri Pond – 6.30 Lakh, Ward 26 Argora Pond – 8.85 Lakh, Ward 46 Swarn Rekha Chhath Pond (Ketari Bagan) – 6 lakh.
