Babulal Marandi takes over as BJP state president

Ranchi: On July 5, Babulal Marandi was made the Jharkhand state BJP president on behalf of BJP’s central president JP Nadda. He assumed the charge of State President on Saturday. Many big leaders were present on the occasion of taking charge. 

Before taking charge, he performed puja, Havan was also performed on the spot. Following that, former state president Deepak Prakash welcomed him. He gave a garment to Babulal Marandi and made him wear a turban. 

After taking charge, he interacted with the media. 

Addressing after assuming office, he said the state BJP team has done excellent work in the last three years. Now it needs to be taken further. It will be our endeavour to make the organization stronger. He said I will try to live up to the trust with which this responsibility has been given to me. The team of the state will definitely continue to perform its best in future also. Former CM and State President Babulal Marandi claimed this time the party aims to win all 14 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He has full faith that the party will do so.

He addressed party workers that achieving victory not only in the Lok Sabha but also in the assembly elections and bringing better results. He said BJP will form the government in the country as well as in the state. State in-charge and MP Laxminath Bajpai, State Organization Minister Karamjit Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu and many other BJP leaders were also present on the occasion. The political journey of Jharkhand BJP’s new state president Babulal Marandi has been quite exciting.

Babulal Marandi was working as a teacher before joining politics. He was working as a teacher in a primary school located in Deori, Giridih. Since then he took the path of politics. He came in contact with the Sangh. In the year 1990, Babulal Marandi was given the responsibility of organization minister of Santhal Pargana. In the year 1999, he was also made a Union Minister in Atal Vajpayee’s government. 

Babulal Marandi became the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand in 2000 when the state of Jharkhand was separated. Then in the year 2003, due to opposition in the party, he had to leave the post of Chief Minister. In the year 2006, he left BJP and formed his own party named Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. Contested elections from Jharkhand Vikas Morcha in the years 2009, 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections.

Babulal’s party JVM contested the 2009 elections in alliance with the Congress. In February 2020, he merged his party JVM with BJP and was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party. Now he has been given the responsibility of state president.
