Ranchi: An Assistant Sub Inspector was suspended by Ranchi SSP for manhandling journalist Anand Dutt.
Over the incident, SSP Surendra Jha had directed DSP Amit Kumar Singh to conduct a probe after which ASI Mohan Mahto has been suspended.
Anand along with his spouse had gone at the local market at Morhabadi with his wife where he was beaten by the policeman after which he had registered a complaint with the Lalpur Police.
Anand in his complaint had claimed that the police officer after beating him took him to the police station where he was made to sit forcibly and there also he was beaten and was accused of being a pickpocketer.
The matter was subsequently brought into the notice of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and DGP MV Rao. The DGP had directed the SSP to conduct a probe and punish the guilty.
