As per Chief Minister’s vision steps are being taken towards making Jharkhand a sports nursery

Ranchi: The vision of Chief Minister Hemant Soren who is serious about sports and sportspersons is now taking shape as Jharkhand has taken a step towards becoming a sports nursery.

The players of five aspirational districts of the state, West Singhbhum, Saraikela- Kharsawan, Khunti, Simdega and Gumla have shown their talent up to Panchayat, Block and District level and 520 players selected in that competition are now showing their talent in Sahay State Level Championship. 

Players in football, hockey, athletics and volleyball are showcasing their skills in the state-level Sahay Sports Championship which is being organized from February 16 to 18 at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in the capital.

The objective of the Sahay Yojana in the first phase is to enable the youth of the five Maoist-affected districts of the state to adopt a normal lifestyle through sports, their development and to bring out the hidden sports talent within the youth.

The scheme was launched by the Chief Minister in the year 2021 from Chaibasa so that the hidden talent of the state can be given a platform and the skills of these sports talents can be further improved by providing training. The players who perform well at the state level.

Sahay Sports Championship will be given priority in the sports training center and they will be groomed. The state government will honor the winning players and team in this competition with an incentive amount.

Under this, each member of the winning team of football, hockey and volleyball will be given Rs 10,000 and each member of the runner-up team will be given Rs 5,000 as incentive. On the other hand, in athletics, the prize money of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 for the second and Rs 5,000 for the third place will be given.
