Ranchi: Jharkhand Neeraj Sinha has described the arrest of Polit Bureau Member of CPI Maoists Prashant Bose alias Kisan Da and central committee member Shila Marandi as the biggest catch so far for the state police, CRPF and other paramilitary forces and central agencies which are involved in the battle against Left Wing Extremism.
Addressing a press conference here he said that Prashant Bose and Shila Marandi are among the top leaders of the outfit and their arrest is a big blow to the maoists ideology and to the ranks of the organisation. Detailing further he said that an input was received on1 Friday that some important people from Parasnath hills were moving towards Kolhan area, further there was also information regarding the gathering of senior leaders of maoists happening in Kolhan in wake of which police and CRPF teams in Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Saraikela and Chaibasa had launched a major search and checking operation and had also put up barriers for undertaking the checking drive.
As part of the special drive at Giddibeda toll plaza under the Kandra police station area of Saraikela district, a four wheeler was apprehended and asked to stop. In the vehicle, there were six people travelling including the driver and as their activities appeared to be suspicious they were immediately taken for identification to the joint interrogation centre at Ranchi.
The DGP said that following sustained interrogation it was confirmed that one among the arrested was Prashant Bose alias Kishan alias Manish alias Budha and the woman was Shila Marandi alias Shila Di who are respectively polit bureau member and Central committee member of the CPI Maoist. Apart from the duo four others were also arrested. He said that the state government has announced a reward of Rupees 1 crore on Prashant Bose.
The DGP said that among the arrested also included Virender Hansda alias Jitender, Raju Tudu alias Nikhil alias Baju, Krishna Bhanda alias Hevan and Gurucharan Boadra. From the arrested four mobile phones a pen drive, two SSD and Rs 1.51 lakh in cash have been recovered. A total of 50 cases are registered against Prashant Bose across separate police stations of Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Chaibasa, Saraikela, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh and Bokaro districts while 17 cases are registered against Shila Marandi across different districts of the state.
