New Delhi- Apple on Friday opened pre-orders in India for its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, with bookings starting at 5:30 p.m. IST. The device will go on sale on October 23.
The launch marks Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone market. The company says the device features the largest display ever offered on an iPhone while being its thinnest model to date.
The iPhone Duo has drawn attention for its premium pricing. The 256GB variant is priced at Rs 2,99,900, while the 512GB, 1TB and 2TB models cost Rs 3,24,900, Rs 3,74,900 and Rs 4,49,900, respectively.
Despite the high prices, industry reports indicate strong consumer interest, with global shipments projected to approach six million units in 2026.
Customers can pre-order the device through Apple’s online store, authorised retail partners and leading offline outlets.
The iPhone Duo features a book-style folding design, with a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display and a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer screen. Apple claims the inner display offers 50 per cent more viewing area than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Both screens support ProMotion technology, Always-On functionality and peak outdoor brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The inner display also features a nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare.
The smartphone is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chipset, supported by a custom vapour chamber cooling system. It runs iOS 27, which has been redesigned for the foldable form factor.
The software adapts to different usage modes as the device is opened, closed or positioned at various angles. Features such as Split View allow two applications to run side by side, while saved app pairs are designed to make multitasking more convenient.
Apple has also brought back Touch ID, integrating the fingerprint sensor into the side-mounted power button.
The device features a Grade 5 titanium frame, Ceramic Shield protection on the rear and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front. It also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
For photography, the iPhone Duo is equipped with a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera offering 2x telephoto capability and a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera with macro photography support.
