Another Accused Gives Up in Jamshedpur Karni Sena Leader Murder Case, Arrest Count Reaches 12

Jamshedpur: The investigation into the murder of Karni Sena youth leader Himanshu Singh has gained further momentum after another absconding accused surrendered before the Jharkhand Police on Friday.

Rahul Dubey, who had been evading arrest since the June 27 killing, surrendered at the Bistupur police station around 1 p.m. Officials said the move came after continuous police raids, increasing legal pressure and the arrest of several co-accused.

With Dubey’s surrender, the total number of accused arrested and sent to judicial custody has risen to 12. Police teams are continuing their search for the remaining suspects linked to the case.

Earlier, investigators had arrested several key accused, including Double Down Bar owner and BJP leader Neeraj Singh from Rajasthan’s Khatu Shyamji area, along with the bar’s manager Vijay Kumar. Both are currently in judicial custody.

The prime accused, Vishwanath Mandal alias Bodra, who was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh, had also surrendered recently before the Jamshedpur Civil Court. Police have also detained several other accused, including a juvenile, and recovered choppers, axes, knives and other sharp-edged weapons allegedly used in the attack.

Himanshu Singh was brutally assaulted outside Double Down Bar in Bistupur on the night of June 27. He sustained critical injuries in the attack and later died while undergoing treatment.

According to the police investigation, the violence erupted after Himanshu and one of his friends allegedly objected to a group of youths harassing women inside the bar. The argument soon turned violent, leading to the fatal assault.

Investigators say Himanshu tried to escape by taking shelter inside a police PCR vehicle, but the attackers allegedly dragged him out in front of police personnel and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.

The shocking incident sparked outrage across Jharkhand and raised serious questions over policing and law and order in Jamshedpur. In the wake of the murder, the state government initiated action against several police officials, including the then Senior Superintendent of Police, over alleged lapses in handling the incident.
