Mumbai- Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has been rescheduled for an earlier theatrical release. The film, which was initially set to premiere on May 15, 2026, will now hit cinemas on April 10, 2026.
The decision to advance the release date was made considering Akshay Kumar’s busy theatrical calendar and audience engagement strategies.
The film marks the much-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar with director Priyadarshan after a gap of 14 years. The actor-director duo has previously delivered several blockbuster hits, including Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Garam Masala, and Khatta Meetha. Their collaboration in Bhooth Bangla is expected to recreate the magic that audiences have enjoyed in the past.
Alongside Akshay Kumar, the film features a strong ensemble cast including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi in significant roles.
The project also reunites Akshay Kumar and Tabu after 25 years. The two last shared screen space in films such as Hera Pheri and Tu Chor Main Sipahi.
Several portions of the movie have been filmed in Rajasthan, Jaipur, and Hyderabad. According to reports, Bhooth Bangla revolves around a mysterious haunted house and the chaos that unfolds around it.
Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in collaboration with Cape of Good Films, Bhooth Bangla is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor.
The story has been written by Akash A. Kaushik, while the screenplay is developed by Rohan Shankar, Abilash Nair, and Priyadarshan. The dialogues for the film are penned by Rohan Shankar.
In addition to Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are reportedly collaborating on two more projects — Haiwaan, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, and Hera Pheri 3, featuring Suniel Shetty.
