Akshay Kumar supports martial arts students in Thailand, bears full training costs: contestant

Mumbai — Akshay Kumar has been quietly supporting martial arts students by funding their training in Thailand, a revelation made by contestant Vispy during an episode of the quiz reality show Wheel of Fortune.

After the high-energy “Double Dhamaka” round, Vispy paused the game to share how he has benefited from the actor’s initiatives. He said he has been associated with the training programmes promoted by Akshay for several years and highlighted the actor’s role in helping eligible students pursue advanced training abroad.

According to Vispy, Akshay selects deserving candidates and sends them to Thailand for martial arts training at his own expense. He added that the actor also provides financial assistance for students to participate in international competitions.

Vispy also expressed gratitude for Akshay’s contribution in promoting Kudo in India, crediting him with bringing greater visibility to the sport.

Responding to the praise, Akshay chose to emphasise the values associated with martial arts rather than his financial support. He said self-discipline is one of the most important qualities and noted that there is no age limit for learning martial arts.

The actor has long been associated with martial arts training himself and is known for performing many of his own stunts in films without using a body double.
