Mumbai – Actress Jahnvi Soni says a close friend’s personal journey helped her emotionally connect with Saanvi, her character in the upcoming television show ‘Sayoneee’.
Saanvi is a young girl who grows up in an orphanage without her mother, and Jahnvi says that although she has never experienced such a loss herself, she was able to understand some of the character’s emotions through someone close to her.
Talking about the connection, Jahnvi told IANS, “I haven’t personally gone through something like Saanvi has, but one of my closest friends grew up without her mother.”
“She considers her maasi her mother, and I have seen that bond very closely. I would often think about what it must have been like for her while growing up, going to school, giving exams or experiencing important moments without her mother by her side,” she added.
Jahnvi said observing her friend’s relationship with her maternal aunt helped her understand how a child can find emotional security and a sense of family in someone other than a biological parent.
“Over the years, her maasi became her mother figure and her biggest emotional support. I feel many children who grow up in orphanages also find someone they emotionally connect with, someone who becomes that sense of family and comfort for them,” the actress said.
That understanding became an important part of Jahnvi’s preparation for Saanvi. Rather than trying to directly replicate an experience she had never lived through, she drew on what she had observed and understood from her friend’s journey.
“While preparing for the character, I tried to draw from what I had seen and understood through my friend’s journey. It helped me connect with Saanvi’s emotions and understand why finding that mother figure means so much to her,” she said.
Produced by Sargun Mehta’s Dreamiyata Entertainment, ‘Sayoneee’ explores Saanvi’s emotional journey and the relationships that shape her understanding of family, love and belonging. The recently released promo features Jahnvi alongside Gautam Singh Vig and offers a glimpse into the interpersonal dynamics at the heart of the story.
The show also marks Rashami Desai’s return to television. Starring Rashami Desai, Jahnvi Soni and Gautam Singh Vig, ‘Sayoneee’ will premiere on September 23 on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
Jahnvi has previously appeared in television shows including ‘Dahej Daasi’ and ‘Dev Sang Paro’, besides featuring in the film ‘Afwaah’.
