Deoghar: To ensure better facilities and healthcare support for devotees visiting Baba Baidyanath Dham during the Rajkiya Shravani Mela 2026, the Indian Red Cross Society, Deoghar has set up a free service camp at the Nehru Park Pandal. The camp was inaugurated on Sunday by Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the initiative.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya, along with Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, flagged off two specially equipped Toto ambulances that will provide immediate assistance during medical emergencies. Appreciating the efforts of the Red Cross Society, the Deputy Commissioner said that the role of civil society organisations in supporting pilgrims and enhancing facilities during the Shravani Mela is both significant and commendable.
The free service camp offers devotees access to safe drinking water, cold beverages, fresh fruits and essential medicines throughout the mela. In addition, two Toto ambulances have been deployed along the Kanwariya Path and the designated route line to assist sick, elderly and physically challenged pilgrims.
Red Cross Society Chairman Jitesh Rajpal said the Toto ambulance service has been introduced for the first time this year with the support of the district administration. The two electric Toto vehicles, provided by the State Bank of India (SBI), have been specially modified into ambulances.
He informed that each ambulance will be staffed by two Health Department personnel who will provide primary health check-ups and distribute essential medicines. If a patient’s condition requires further medical attention, they will be transported to the nearest health centre. The ambulance service will remain operational for 16 hours every day during the mela.
Rajpal further stated that the design and modification of the Toto ambulances were carried out with the support of Kamlesh Mishra, CEO of Himmatsingka Automobiles Private Limited, Jasidih.
The programme was conducted by Red Cross Society Vice Chairman Piyush Jaiswal. Among those present were Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Assistant Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar Vidyarthi, Treasurer Raj Kumar Barnwal, members of the Indian Red Cross Society and representatives of the Marwari Mahila Sammelan.
