Jamshedpur: Two youths were seriously injured after being stabbed during a violent clash that broke out outside a pub in Jamshedpur late on Saturday night. The incident reportedly began after they objected to the alleged harassment of two women, police said.
The injured, identified as Himanshu Singh and Pratyush Singh, were rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where they are undergoing treatment.
The violence escalated further when members of the rival group allegedly reached the hospital and got into another confrontation outside the emergency ward, triggering panic among patients and their attendants.
The incident occurred at the Double Down Pub & Bar in the Bistupur area, where a large crowd had gathered on Saturday night.
According to police and eyewitnesses, an argument broke out after some youths allegedly misbehaved with two women. When the men accompanying the women intervened, the verbal dispute quickly turned into a physical fight.
Pub bouncers and security personnel stepped in and escorted both groups out of the premises in an attempt to defuse the situation.
However, police said the confrontation resumed outside the pub after one of the groups allegedly called additional people to the spot. During the ensuing clash, Himanshu Singh and Pratyush Singh were allegedly attacked with sharp weapons and stabbed several times.
The two victims collapsed on the road and were taken to Tata Main Hospital by local residents.
Soon after they were admitted, members of the opposing group allegedly arrived at the hospital, where another scuffle broke out outside the emergency ward, creating chaos before police intervened.
Police personnel reached the hospital and restored order. An investigation has been launched, and CCTV footage from the pub and nearby areas is being examined to identify those involved.
Officials said statements of the injured will also be recorded as part of the investigation, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
