Mumbai: Bhojpuri star Akshara Singh turned an empty gym into her personal dance stage as she recreated the charm of Urmila Matondkar while grooving to the song “Aa Hi Jaiye” from the 2001 film Lajja.
Sharing a video of her performance on social media, Akshara showcased her energetic moves to the track originally sung by Anuradha Sriram. Captioning the post, she wrote, “Gym me koi nahi hai. In my zone.”
The song is from Lajja, the acclaimed drama directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film explored themes of women’s struggles, societal expectations, and gender inequality in India. Its narrative revolved around four women—Vaidehi, Janki, Ramdulari, and Maithili—and featured an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, Rekha, and Mahima Chaudhry.
On the professional front, Akshara is preparing for a major Bollywood-Bhojpuri collaboration. She will be seen sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar in the high-energy track “Ghis Ghis Ghis” from the upcoming film Welcome to the Jungle.
The song has been sung by Vikram Montrose and Supriya Pathak, with lyrics penned by Abhinav Shekhar.
Akshara began her acting journey in 2010 opposite Ravi Kishan in Satyamev Jayate. She later expanded her presence to television with shows such as Kaala Teeka and Service Wali Bahu. She also portrayed Gandhari in Suryaputra Karn and appeared in the historical drama Porus.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, Welcome to the Jungle boasts a star-studded cast featuring Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Lara Dutta, and several other prominent names from the entertainment industry.
