Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to former MLA and prominent Jharkhand movement leader Durga Soren on his death anniversary.
The Chief Minister visited the Durga Soren memorial site at Lowadih in Namkum, where he offered floral tributes at his statue and remembered his contributions to the statehood movement.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Hemant Soren said that Durga Soren had dedicated his entire life to the fight for a separate Jharkhand state and for the rights of the deprived and marginalised sections of society. He described him as a visionary and hardworking leader who remained deeply connected with the people throughout his life.
The Chief Minister said that, like every year, people had gathered at the memorial site this year as well to remember and honour Durga Soren. He added that his ideals and thoughts would continue to inspire future generations.
Hemant Soren also said that Jharkhand achieved statehood because of the sacrifices and struggles of leaders like Durga Soren, adding that the state remains proud of such committed and dynamic leadership.
Several public representatives, social workers and dignitaries also paid floral tributes at the memorial site and recalled Durga Soren’s contribution to Jharkhand and its people.
