Over 60 Children Fall Ill After Mid-Day Meal in Nalanda School, Panic Grips Campus

Nalanda: Panic broke out at a government school in Bihar’s Nalanda district after more than 60 children reportedly fell ill following the consumption of a mid-day meal on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Middle School Kaila in Nagarnausa block, where students were served rice and chickpeas for lunch. Soon after eating the meal, several children began complaining of stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness and diarrhoea. Within a short time, over 60 students reportedly became sick, triggering chaos inside the school premises.

As the situation worsened, school authorities and local residents rushed the children to nearby hospitals with the help of ambulances and private vehicles. Several students are currently undergoing treatment at the Primary Health Centre, while the condition of one girl student is said to be critical.

The incident sparked anger among parents, who raised serious questions over the quality and safety of the mid-day meal being served at the school. The administration has ordered an investigation into the matter.

According to eyewitnesses, children started experiencing stomach pain and vomiting within minutes of consuming the food. Some students reportedly collapsed inside the school campus due to weakness. Teachers and villagers acted quickly to shift the affected children to hospitals.

A large crowd gathered at the hospitals as worried family members arrived to check on their children. Doctors are continuously monitoring the condition of the affected students.
