Rajarappa: A deer was rescued in an injured condition near the Bisa forest in Gola block on Thursday morning after villagers noticed it while going to nearby fields. The animal appeared frightened and had multiple injury marks, with blood reportedly oozing from its forehead.
The villagers immediately alerted the Forest Department, which quickly sent a team to the location. Officials rescued the deer and shifted it to the veterinary hospital in Gola for medical treatment.
Doctors at the hospital administered first aid and confirmed that the deer’s condition had stabilized after treatment. For its protection and recovery, the Forest Department later moved the animal to the deer park at Purabdih, where it is being closely monitored.
According to forest guard Nilesh Poddar, the deer had likely strayed out of the forest in search of water due to intense heat and water scarcity in the jungle. During this time, stray dogs attacked the animal and injured it.
Officials and villagers said the timely action taken by locals played a crucial role in saving the deer’s life. Residents added that a delay in informing the Forest Department could have worsened the animal’s condition. The deer is currently safe and undergoing treatment under official supervision.
