The victory holds special significance for Jharkhand’s Deoghar district, as three of the five players in the Indian squad—Ayush Santoshi, Sakshi Bhardwaj, and Raushan Kumar—played a crucial role in the triumph.
Strong Run to the Final
The tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Goalball Federation, saw participation from five South Asian countries. Team India looked in complete control right from the start, registering convincing wins against Bhutan, Nepal, and the Maldives in the league stage. Their dominant performances helped them finish at the top of the table and secure a place in the final against hosts Sri Lanka.

In the title clash, the Indian team showcased excellent coordination and sharp skills to overpower Sri Lanka, winning by a margin of eight points. The team’s success was guided by coach Rajesh Ranjan and supported by Jharkhand Goalball Association patron Dr. J.C. Raj, whose planning and mentorship proved instrumental.
