Ranchi: The 17th India International Mega Trade Fair at Morhabadi Ground witnessed a huge surge of visitors over the weekend as it neared its conclusion on Monday. Making the most of the Sunday holiday, people began arriving in large numbers from the afternoon, crowding the stalls and continuing their shopping spree late into the night.
Attractive discounts and special deals across a wide range of products—including handicrafts, wooden furniture, handlooms, electronics, kitchenware, khadi garments, and gift items—kept buyers engaged. The lively food stalls further enhanced the festive vibe of the fair.
On the second-last day of the event, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, attending as the Chief Guest, appreciated the fair for its role in strengthening the local economy and providing a platform to rural artisans. He also announced plans to organize a dedicated Swadeshi Mela in Ranchi to promote locally made products. Highlighting broader developments, Seth mentioned record GST collections of Rs 2 lakh crore and defence exports crossing Rs 38,000 crore, while also noting collaboration with the Jharkhand Chamber for the “Clean Ranchi, Green Ranchi” initiative.
Jharkhand Chamber president Aditya Malhotra said the trade fair has given Ranchi a distinct identity, offering residents an opportunity to explore products from 12 countries and 15 states. He added that such events also help stall owners better understand customer preferences.
Adding a cultural touch, the fair hosted a “Mom and Kids Fashion Show,” where mothers and children walked the ramp in traditional attire, celebrating Indian culture and family values.
The event was smoothly managed by the organizing team, including ISBA Director Sangeeta Sinha and Sumitra ‘Glam’ founder Achla Chauhan. Several prominent figures, including BJP Ranchi city president Varun Sahu and Congress city president Kumar Raja, were also present at the fair.
