Nimrat Kaur recalls ‘soul-stirring’ Kashi visit on Hanuman Jayanti

Nimrat Kaur marked Hanuman Jayanti by sharing memories of a deeply spiritual visit to Varanasi, describing her experience in Kashi as “soul-stirring” and unforgettable.

Taking to Instagram, the actress posted a series of photos from her trip, featuring temple visits, ghats, and traditional akhadas. Some images also showed her interacting with wrestlers, highlighting the unique blend of spirituality and discipline she encountered.

Nimrat said her journey began at the revered Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, believed to be the place where saint Tulsidas had a divine vision of Lord Hanuman. From there, she visited Tulsi Ghat, which she described as one of the most peaceful and spiritually charged places she has ever experienced.

Calling the visit invaluable, she said she also discovered the historic Tulsi Akhara, believed to date back to the mid-1500s. She was fascinated by the wrestlers there, who follow a disciplined lifestyle combining devotion to Lord Hanuman with rigorous physical training. According to her, their day begins with boondi laddoos before practising in specially prepared mud sourced from the banks of the Ganga River.

Reflecting on the spiritual legacy of the site, Nimrat noted that Tulsidas is believed to have composed the Ramcharitmanas and the Hanuman Chalisa on the same sacred soil, adding to its aura of devotion and history.

She also mentioned meeting a 78-year-old akhara ustad whose agility and fitness impressed her, embodying the spirit of devotion and discipline associated with Lord Hanuman.

Concluding her post, Nimrat described the place as a rare confluence of history, tradition, sacrifice, and faith. She said she felt blessed to have walked through those “silent, sunlit corridors” and wished everyone a happy Hanuman Jayanti.
