Thiruvananthapuram — Indian magician and technologist Aravind V.K., popularly known by his stage name “Myztiq Mayaman”, has been appointed the South Asian Ambassador of the International Magicians Society (IMS), becoming the first Indian technologist-magician to assume the prestigious international role.
The appointment comes shortly after Aravind received the renowned Merlin Award in 2025 in Las Vegas, considered one of the highest honours in the global magic community. Often referred to as the “Oscar of Magic”, the award has previously been presented to celebrated illusionists such as David Copperfield, Criss Angel and Indian magician Gopinath Muthukad.
Aravind received the title “Most Magical Techie & Filmmaker” for his unique work that blends advanced technology with the art of illusion and cinematic storytelling. His performances combine digital engineering, psychological illusion and filmmaking techniques, creating a distinctive style rarely seen in the world of professional magic.
With his new role as the South Asian Ambassador, the International Magicians Society has recognised him not only as a performer but also as an innovator in modern magic. In this position, Aravind will represent the organisation across the South Asian region, promote the art of magic and mentor upcoming performers.
Hailing from a small village in Kerala, Aravind’s journey reflects a blend of science and creativity. Professionally, he works as a senior data engineer in the United States while continuing to develop technology-driven magic experiences that incorporate artificial intelligence, psychology and storytelling.
Speaking about the honour, Aravind said the appointment is both a privilege and a responsibility, offering him an opportunity to represent South Asia on the international stage and showcase how technology and art can evolve together.
The ambassadorial role will also allow him to foster collaborations between global institutions and emerging artists in the region, helping strengthen India’s growing presence in the international performing arts landscape.
Apart from stage performances, Aravind has been involved in educational initiatives, community engagement and charitable programmes, using magic as a creative tool for learning and inspiration.
Founded in the United States, the International Magicians Society is among the most respected professional organisations in the field, with members spread across more than 90 countries. Its Merlin Award remains one of the most prestigious recognitions in the world of magic.
