Ranchi Launches Admission Process for 25% Reserved Seats in Private Schools Under RTE

Ranchi — Manjunath Bhajantri, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Ranchi, inaugurated the admission process for the academic session 2026–27 under Section 12(1)(c) of the Right to Education Act, 2009. The initiative provides for admissions to 25 per cent reserved seats in entry-level classes of recognised private schools. The event was attended by District Education Superintendent Badal Raj, District Information and Science Officer Rajeev Kumar, and other concerned officials.

The Ranchi district administration has reserved a total of 1,176 seats in Nursery, LKG, UKG, and Class 1 across private schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education, Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, and other recognised institutions. These seats will provide free education opportunities for children belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, economically weaker sections, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and children with 40 per cent or more disability.

This year, the entire admission process will be conducted online through a transparent and computerised random lottery system. Offline applications will not be accepted. School allotment will be carried out through a digital random selection process to ensure fairness.

To assist parents, a help desk has been set up at the office of the District Education Superintendent to provide guidance and support. The selection list will be published on the official website on the scheduled date.
