Mumbai- Actress and former Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu shared a proud moment with Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, reflecting on their shared Punjabi roots and journeys onto the global stage.
Calling it an honour to meet the Indian skipper, Harnaaz highlighted how Punjab nurtured them, India shaped their identities, and the world provided a platform for them to shine.
Taking to Instagram, Harnaaz posted a picture with Harmanpreet from the opening match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). In the image, Harnaaz is seen in a golden outfit, while Harmanpreet appears confident and composed in the Mumbai Indians jersey.
Captioning the post, Harnaaz wrote: “Punjab raised us, India shaped us, and the World & Universe became our stage. Honoured to catch up with Captain @imharmanpreet_kaur today! Chak de phatte @wplt20.”
The fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League began on January 9 with a grand opening ceremony at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The event featured performances by Harnaaz, Jacqueline Fernandez and Honey Singh, adding glamour to the curtain-raiser.
Harnaaz opened the ceremony with a monologue celebrating the achievements of women across India, setting the tone for the evening by declaring, “We are ready.”
Mumbai Indians, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, are the most successful team in the league with two titles and are also the defending champions. Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the 2024 edition, while Delhi Capitals, runners-up in all three previous seasons, will once again be aiming for their maiden title.
On the professional front, Harnaaz made her acting debut last year with Baaghi 4. Directed by A. Harsha, the film stars Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt and Sonam Bajwa and is the fourth instalment in the Baaghi franchise. The film is an unofficial remake of the 2013 Tamil movie Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu.
