Ranchi to get 3.2 km flyover linkingKarmtoli, Science City and Chiraundi

Ranchi: In a major step to ease growing traffic pressure in Jharkhand’s capital, the state government has approved the construction of a new flyover from Karmtoli via Science City to Chiraundi Chowk. Stretching about 3.216 km, the project aims to provide relief from frequent congestion in some of the city’s busiest zones.

The Flyover will directly connect Karmtoli, Science City and Chiraundi Chowk, while an additional
516-metre link road up to Morabadi is also planned to ensure smoother traffic movement. Once completed, traffic load at Albert Chowk, Divyan Chowk, Science City and Chiraundi—known for persistent jams—is expected to reduce significantly.

Project is likely to benefit vehicles travelling to and from Ramgarh and Hazaribagh, besides improving connectivity between Ring Road and NH- 20. This enhanced linkage is expected to streamline both intra-city and inter-city traffic flow.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given formal approval to the project and directed officials to begin further procedures at the earliest. Earlier, after reviewing a departmental presentation in September, he had asked for the preparation of DPRs for flyovers from Argora Chowk to Kathal More and from Karmtoli to Science City.

Recent months have already seen improvement in Ranchi’s traffic situation following the completion of flyovers at Sirmatoli–MECON, Koker–Bahubazar and Ratu Road. With this new flyover proposal, residents are hopeful of yet another major relief from congestion in the capital city.
