Mumbai- Actors Ishita Dutta and Vatsal Sheth recently experienced a funny parenting mishap when their plan to surprise their son Vayu with a close-up view of airplanes went completely off track.
The couple posted a video on Instagram describing the adorable chaos that unfolded — which, in the end, turned into a sweet memory.
In the clip, Ishita explains that they had excitedly planned a visit to a nearby hotel rooftop after discovering it offered a clear view of aircraft taking off and landing.
She said, “Something very funny has happened. Vayu is obsessed with aeroplanes and helicopters. So we thought, let’s take him to a nearby hotel — Fairfield has a rooftop area where you can see landings and take-offs.”
Vayu came fully prepared with his toy airplanes and helicopters, brimming with excitement. But things took a turn when they reached the rooftop and realised that not a single plane was flying.
“We got Vayu here and he was so excited… but not even one plane was flying. We thought maybe there are fewer flights today,” Ishita said.
After waiting for 15–20 minutes, they learned that the entire airport was shut for the day due to maintenance.
“Not one single plane was taking off or landing. Then we called someone and found out the airport is under maintenance and shut for the whole day — which I have never heard of. I was like, are you serious? I was just laughing,” she added.
Vatsal chimed in with a playful apology to their son: “I think it’s very funny because… sorry, Vayu. Sorry, poor Vayu.”
Since the plan had fallen apart, Vayu ended up playing inside the hotel. Ishita promised she would bring him back another day.
“Now he’s playing in the hotel because there’s nothing else to do. But I’ll get him back for sure because I really wanted him to see. Better luck next time,” she said.
Vatsal joked, “Because of this, we can go for a coffee date.”

Ishita and Vatsal met on the sets of Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar in 2016, got married in 2017, and welcomed their son Vayu in 2023.
