Ranchi: The 2025 monsoon, which lashed Jharkhand for 118 days, officially concluded on 13 October, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed.
According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon that entered the state on 17 June has now withdrawn, marking the transition of Jharkhand towards dry weather.
During the monsoon period from 17 June to 13 October, the state received 1,243.9 millimeters of rainfall, 23 percent above the normal of 1,009 millimeters, categorizing the season as one of excess rainfall.
A closer look at rainfall data shows that Jharkhand recorded a total of 1,198.8 millimeters against the normal of 1,022.9 millimeters. Among the state’s 24 districts, eight experienced above-normal rainfall, 15 districts recorded normal rainfall, and one district saw below-normal levels. Eastern Singhbhum received the highest rainfall at 1,666.1 millimeters, while Godda recorded the lowest at 750.5 millimeters.
