Two-day national PR conclave hosted by CCL begins in Ranchi

Ranchi: A two-day National PR Conclave 2025 began on Wednesday at the Darbhanga House auditorium in the state capital. The event, hosted by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), marks the first large-scale conference in Jharkhand dedicated to public relations. Students, academicians, media professionals, and corporate representatives attended in significant numbers, along with several national-level guests who shared insights on the evolving nature and importance of public relations.

The conclave was inaugurated in the presence of CCL CMD Neelendu Kumar Singh, senior journalist Balbir Dutt, HRCL director (HR) Vinay Ranjan, and renowned advertising filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar. Speakers discussed the growing relevance of PR, its practical applications, and its changing role in contemporary society.

The event’s theme focused on the fundamental questions of what public relations is, why companies need it, and why it remains essential in a competitive environment. Speakers explained that PR is not merely about publicity or media management but a crucial bridge between institutions and the public.

In his address, CCL CMD Neelendu Kumar Singh traced the concept of communication back to ancient narratives, citing examples from the Mahabharata and Ramayana to illustrate the power of effective messaging. He stressed the importance of presentation and storytelling in building credibility and influence, both in history and the corporate world.

Vinay Ranjan noted that the significance of PR departments has grown in the modern era. The conclave, he said, offers a valuable opportunity for PR professionals to deepen their understanding of how to communicate the work of Coal India and its subsidiaries to the public more effectively.

Advertising expert Prahlad Kakkar highlighted that today’s companies sell not just products but trust and reputation. “If there is no dialogue with the public, a brand cannot survive. Effective PR forms the foundation of a company’s credibility and standing,” he said.
