Ramgarh DC makes history by giving first job to a transgender person

Ramagarh: In a landmark move, Ramgarh District Commissioner Faiz Ahmed Mumtaz has fulfilled his promise by issuing a job appointment letter to Himanshi, a transgender individual, on an outsourcing basis. The appointment was handed over in the DC’s office on Tuesday, with Deputy Development Commissioner Ashish Agarwal, Confidential Officer Ravindra Kumar Gupta, and District Social Welfare Officer Indu Prabha Khalko present.

The initiative is part of a larger effort to integrate transgender individuals into the mainstream and provide them access to various opportunities and facilities. Himanshi has been appointed as an order clerk at the District Collectorate, and a self-help group for transgender people is being established under the DC’s guidance to ensure their continued inclusion and support.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Mumtaz said the appointment marks the first priority step in recognizing transgender individuals, who have long been viewed as marginalized, and will serve as a model for similar initiatives in other districts. The administration aims to continue facilitating mainstream opportunities for transgender communities in Ramgarh.
