Ranchi: With the Election Commission formally announcing the Ghatsila bypoll, BJP has yet to declare its candidate. On Monday, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, speaking from the party office in Ranchi, said the party is fully geared up for the election.
He highlighted that Executive President Aditya Sahu is actively touring the assembly constituency while Champai Soren is also engaged locally.
On questions regarding the candidate, Marandi clarified that the party’s central election committee will make the decision, and its announcement will follow once finalised. Asked whether Champai Soren would get another opportunity, he declined to comment, stressing that such matters are decided by the central leadership. Marandi asserted that the party is fully prepared for the election and expressed confidence that the JMM candidate is set to lose.
BJP’s newly appointed Executive President Aditya Sahu added that party workers are fully mobilised across the constituency. He claimed that the people of Ghatsila are dissatisfied with the JMM-Congress government and are questioning the government’s development record in the region. According to Sahu, voters are comparing the current administration’s performance with BJP’s previous governance and are losing faith in the present government. He expressed strong confidence in a BJP victory in the bypoll.
The Ghatsila by-election is scheduled for November 7. Notably, a member of the late Minister Ramdas Soren’s family will contest the seat without taking oath as minister.
