Ranchi: The Govindpur Road railway station in Jharkhand’s Khunti district, originally built in 1960, has been completely redeveloped into a modern facility under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of ₹6.65 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the revamped station on May 22, along with 102 other Amrit stations across the country. The upgraded Govindpur Road station plays a crucial role in connecting key cities like Ranchi, Khunti, and Rourkela.
The new station building has been constructed with a modern design and advanced technology. Commuters will benefit from enhanced amenities such as spacious waiting rooms, computerised ticket booking counters, high-level platforms, and a safe foot overbridge.
The station has also been made Divyang-friendly, with features like tactile paths, ramps, and hand railings to assist differently-abled passengers.
Other improvements include access to clean drinking water, mobile charging points, digital display boards, and hygienic toilets, all aimed at offering a safe and comfortable travel experience.
