In government hospitals machine to determine pre Cervical cancer to be installed: Banna Gupta

Health Minister Banna Gupta on Tuesday said in all the district level hospitals of the state cervical pre cancer machines will be installed.

The minister chaired a review meeting with the Women’s wing of the IMA he said that in the budget a provision of Rs 1.32 crore has been made so that in all the district hospitals necessary machines can be set up. He also issued strict warning to the officials over poor performance in cervical cancer screening in Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Chatra and Latehar districts.

The minister said that the honorarium of the Sahiyas has been increased.  He instructed the concerned officials to ensure free test for woman having cervical cancer symptoms who come delivery or pregnancy related matters.

Additional Chief Secretary Health Arun Singh said that a district action plan will be made which will focus on awareness, training and treatment. For the execution in every district committee will be formed in which doctors and members of women IMA will be present.

National President of IMA Dr Sahjanand Singh said the collective efforts being made by the Health Department and Women IMA is worth appreciating and should be followed by other states too.

President of Women’s wing of Jharkhand IMA Dr Bharti Kashyap that in the last 9 months trained gynecologists have performed cervical cancer screening of 89,541 women. She suggested that like the Sahiyas who are given honorarium for bringing women for institutional delivery similarly they should be provided incentive for bringing women for cervical cancer screening. She said women who are going to give birth are more prone to cervical cancer and if more care is taken then such women can be prepared for safe pregnancy.
