Government has laid foundation to bring change in the lives of tribals: Raghubar

Ranchi Aug 9: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said his government has laid foundation to bring change in the lives of the tribals and was working for their empowerment and well being.

Addressing a programme organised by the social welfare department at Aryabhat auditorium of the Ranchi University here on tribal empowerment on the occasion of the World Tribal Day he said that henceforth no one should try to mislead the tribals through their speeches as now the community has awakened and wants participation in the development process. He said that the government has demanded more funds from the 15th finance commission for the development of the 26 percent tribals of the state. On the occasion he also asked the people to take pledge to build a new Jharkhand by 2022 where no one would be homeless, without medicines or jobs.

The Chief Minister said that 32 per cent population of the state is of youth who can help realise the slogan of Sankalp Se Siddhi given by the Prime Minister. He said that 669 youth groups have been formed whose purpose is to unify the youth and encourage employment among them through seed capital. These groups apart from government schemes will give speed to sports and cultural activities and announced a sum of Rs 25000 each for these 669 youth groups from his discresnatory funds.
He said that as part of the empowerment programme of the tribals in 1254 villages gram Sabha project implementation committee has been formed which have been provided a combined fund of Rs 17.90 crore. Under this project 5360 women self help groups have been formed in which 64332 women have been included and bank 4999 women self help groups have also opened their bank accounts in which Rs 5.52 crore has been provided as seed capital.
