Ranchi: As the Chhath Mahaparv approaches, preparations in the city have reached their final stage, with 63 artificial ghats being set up across wards 3 to 50. Dust and other materials are being laid around the ghats to ensure cleanliness and maintain order. Prominent locations for these ghats include Edalhatu, Badhgadi, Housing Colony, Harmu Petrol Pump, and in front of the BJP office in Bhawani Nagar, among other neighbourhoods.
In Bhawani Nagar, the Chhath Puja Committee of Kishore Ganj has constructed a grand water reservoir for devotees. Measuring 60 feet in length and 50 feet in width, the reservoir is designed to accommodate 50 Chhath vratis. A boundary wall has also been built to ensure safety and hygiene, and arrangements for the distribution of puja materials have been made.
Meanwhile, the New Anand Nagar Chhath Puja Youth Committee continues its tradition of preparing a reservoir after the river and nala fill up each year. For the past 15 years, around 100 vraties have gathered here for the festival. This year, a 90-foot-long and 70-foot-wide pit has been dug to serve as the artificial ghat. Devotees will receive puja essentials including lights, musical instruments, coconuts, milk, incense sticks, and katari.
The committee, led by President Rahul Singh Rajput, Executive President Rahul Thakur, and Vice Presidents Sachin Rana, Vikki Pandey, Manu Goswami, Suraj Singh, Tinku Saw, Bholi Singh, Abhay Singh, Sonu Mishra, and other active members, is ensuring smooth arrangements. Reflecting the scale of this year’s celebrations, the festival budget has been doubled to 2.3 lakh rupees from last year’s 1.2 lakh rupees.
