Giridih, May 2: Four people were killed and three others injured as an
illegal mica mine being operated in Lokaya Nayanpur Police Station
area of this district caved-in.
The deceased have been identified as Laxmi Kumari, Ranjeet Rana and
Sukhdeo Rana. The injured are Devanti Devi, Girija Devi and Kusum
Kumari. The illegal mines of stone and mica are located at the
bordering areas of Bihar and Jharkhand.
The incident took place while the mica was being taken out and due to
the sudden cave in three workers were killed on the spot while another
died while being treated at the hospital. The dead bodies were
immediately sent to the native places to prevent the news from
reaching to the police.
However upon receiving the information the police team left for the
spot. Police said that the site of the incident falls in Maoists
stronghold area.
