4 arrested after couple of women forced to drink ‘filth’ in Giridih for practising witchcraft

Giridih: Police has arrested four accused including a couple of women after two women in Jhinjhir Mohalla under Town Police Station area were forced to drink filth on the charges of practising witchcraft in this district.

Giridih DC Rajesh Kumar Pathak that the district administration has taken serious note of the incident and has also formed a committee to probe the matter and said that incident was really unfortunate. The arrested have been identified as Dira Das his wife Shanti Devi and their daughter and son in- law Hiriya Devi and Hari Das while one of the accused Parmeshwar Das was still absconding.

The incident had taken place a couple of days earlier when the women were accused by the family of Dira Das of practising witchcraft due to which their newly married daughter-in-law had fallen ill. The family members had beaten up the duo and had forced them to drink filth. After the incident came out in the open Giridih SP Surendra Kumar Jha ordered for the arrest of the culprits.
