Ranchi: There are 124 holidays in a year in the schools of Jharkhand. There are classes for 242 days. These holidays include 52 Sunday holidays, 12 Saturday holidays plus summer holidays and other substantial festivals. There are 60 days of sanctioned holidays in the holiday calendar issued by the Education Department of the Government of Jharkhand.
This year, the holiday is given on Saturday of the third week of the month. The syllabus of all the students is completed in these 242 days. 60 holidays have been announced by the Education Department of the Government of Jharkhand.
But in all the districts these holidays are also taken on different days. Its decision is taken by the teachers union. Holidays may be adjusted individually. But it cannot be more than 60.
New Year, Sohrai, Makar Sankranti, Tushu festival, Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, Republic Day, Saraswati Puja, Sant Ravidas Jayanti, Mahashivratri, Holi, Shabe Barat, Ramnavmi, Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti, Eid ul Fitr, Sarhul, Labor Day, Buddha Purnima, Summer Vacation, Rath Yatra, Bakrid, Hool Day, Moharram, World Tribal Day, Independence Day, Rakshabandhan, Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Karma Puja, Vishwakarma Puja, Teej Vrat, Ganesh Chaturthi, Milad Ul Nabi, Gandhi Jayanti, Kalash Sthapana, Durga Puja, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhaiya Dooj, Chitragupta Puja, Birsa Munda Jayanti, Chhath Puja, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Christmas and winter holidays are given in government schools.
