Tanishaa S Mukerji Reveals the Two Things She Won’t Compromise on When It Comes to Work

Mumbai: Actress Tanishaa S Mukerji is changing the way she approaches her career, no longer swayed by grand promises or lofty visions unless they are backed by real clarity and purpose. Known for her passion for cinema and her love of consuming content, Tanishaa is now approaching her work with more caution and awareness.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared that earlier in her career, she would often trust the vision of others without questioning their clarity or intent. “As artistes, we tend to rely on our instincts. Sometimes we’re right, and sometimes we’re not — that’s just part of life,” she said. “Like anyone else, I’ve made my fair share of mistakes. But now, through self-awareness and introspection, I’ve learned from those errors. I used to trust people and their big visions, going with the flow. But many times, I was left disappointed. I’ve evolved now, and I choose to invest my time and energy only in projects where there’s complete clarity.”

Tanishaa admitted that she once gave opportunities to individuals who lacked direction, hoping to support emerging talent. However, she has now realized that doing so without a clear understanding of the vision only leads to self-sabotage.

“You can uplift others and give them confidence — that’s a good thing. But if it comes at the cost of your own professional growth and credibility, it’s not wise. I’ve learned that the hard way,” she said. “Vision must go hand-in-hand with clarity. Without clarity, vision is meaningless. I now look forward to working with directors who know exactly what they’re creating — whether they’re industry veterans or newcomers. Experience matters, but so does focus and preparation.”

She added that many new-age filmmakers impress her with their research and understanding of cinema. “Even first-time directors can create brilliant films if they’ve done their homework well. As an artist, I’m always open to experimenting and pushing boundaries — but only with people who are prepared and passionate.”

The actress summed up her new approach by emphasizing two non-negotiables: clarity and vision. “With experience, you learn to identify who comes to you with real knowledge and who doesn’t. As an actor, I want roles that challenge me. But I’m no longer willing to work with people who are still figuring things out. That chapter is closed. I won’t allow it to affect my work anymore.”

She concluded, “I’m done being around confused actors, directors, and producers. I want to work with those who are genuinely passionate and clear about what they’re creating — not those simply trying to copy others. I have no interest in working with copycats. I would much rather collaborate with people who have originality, purpose, and passion. Fingers crossed — I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
