Ranchi: A preparatory meeting for the upcoming National Leprosy Elimination Programme was held on Monday at the RCH Auditorium, Namkum. The meeting, chaired by Shashi Prakash Jha, Campaign Director of the National Health Mission, Jharkhand, focused on finalizing the state-level rollout strategy.
Addressing the gathering, Jha emphasized that leprosy-affected individuals will be identified village by village to ensure complete elimination of the disease from the state. The campaign is scheduled to run from November 10 to 26 across all districts of Jharkhand. During this period, extensive efforts will be made to screen as many people as possible, and any individual showing signs of leprosy will receive immediate treatment.
The program will also include widespread awareness and information dissemination to educate the public about leprosy and its early detection.
The meeting was attended by nodal officers of the leprosy program, IC cell officials, consultants, and members of the media committee, who discussed strategies for outreach, monitoring, and publicity to ensure the success of the initiative.
