Sonali Bendre Reflects on How the Internet Has Transformed Relationships

Mumbai – Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre has shared her thoughts on the profound ways the internet has reshaped relationships and society at large.

Speaking to IANS, the Hum Saath-Saath Hain actress reflected on the fast-evolving digital world and how it has accelerated generational change. “The shift is enormous,” she said. “Earlier, a generation would evolve every 20 to 25 years. Now, it feels like there’s a new generation every three years. The internet has completely changed how we live and connect with each other.”

Sonali, whose own marriage has remained strong over the years, also offered her perspective on the younger generation’s evolving views on love, marriage, and divorce. She noted that giving advice to today’s youth often proves ineffective. “I don’t think youngsters take advice easily anymore—and those who try to guide them usually fail,” she said with a smile. “They feel they already know everything. With Google and ChatGPT, every answer is right at their fingertips.”

Speaking about marriage, Sonali emphasized that it requires ongoing commitment. “Marriage, in my opinion, is something you have to work on every single day. You can’t take it for granted. It needs mutual respect. To me, marriage is an equal partnership—not that everything has to be perfectly balanced, but our individual strengths should complement each other. I have my strengths, and my husband has his. We divide our responsibilities based on that.”

On the professional front, the 50-year-old actress is currently hosting the reality show Pati, Patni Aur Panga alongside comedian Munawar Faruqui.
