Ranchi: A state-level workshop was organised at the BJP headquarters to strategise and mobilise support for the upcoming ‘Sardar @150 Unity March’, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event saw participation from members of state and district-level teams formed to coordinate the campaign.
Addressing the gathering, State Working President and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu said the nationwide initiative is being spearheaded by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs to honour Sardar Patel’s legacy of national integration, linking it with Prime Minister *Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India. “This is not a party programme, but a mass movement,” he said, adding that the march will strengthen the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
Sahu outlined that the three-day padyatras in every Lok Sabha constituency will begin on October 31 and continue until November 25, with participants walking 10 km each day. Activities like cleanliness drives, de-addiction campaigns, health and yoga camps, youth outreach, essay and debate competitions will be held along the route. Cultural programmes will be organised at designated halts.
He added that the programme will be executed under the leadership of MPs with support from Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Nehru Yuva Kendra, and NSS.
The national padyatra will begin from Sardar Patel’s birthplace Karamsad and culminate at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. Each district will send five representatives to join this grand march.
BJP Vice President and State Coordinator Balamukund Sahay shared details of the four national padyatra routes—Ganga (from Delhi), Yamuna (from Jaipur), Narmada (from Nagpur), and Godavari (from Mumbai)—which will all converge at Ekta Nagar.
Calling it an historic initiative, Sahay said the campaign would offer new inspiration to India’s youth. The workshop was conducted by co-convenor Shashank Raj.
