Ranchi Court Sentences Three to Life for Kamal Bhushan Murder, Acquits Two

Ranchi — A Ranchi court has sentenced three accused to life imprisonment for the murder of well-known builder and real estate dealer Kamal Bhushan, who was gunned down in May 2022.

Those convicted include Bhushan’s son-in-law Rahul Kujur, his father W. Kujur, and close associate Kavish Adnan. They were found guilty under IPC Section 302. However, Rahul’s mother, Sushila Kujur, and approver Munawar Afaq were acquitted for want of evidence.

The case traced back to personal enmity and financial disputes. Bhushan’s opposition to his daughter’s marriage with Rahul, coupled with property-related tensions, led Rahul and his associates to plan the killing. According to police, the trio ambushed Bhushan outside his house on Ratu Road, firing multiple shots before escaping.

Their arrest and subsequent conviction marked the conclusion of one of Ranchi’s most sensational murder cases, which had shocked the city’s business circles at the time.
