Ranchi – With a pledge to empower the grassroots cadre and energise the party, Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu on Friday assumed charge as the working president of the Jharkhand BJP.
The announcement was made in the morning by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh. Soon after, state leaders including BJP president Babulal Marandi, ex-chief ministers Raghubar Das and Arjun Munda, and MP Nishikant Dubey hailed the move as a decision that would inject new momentum into the party’s state unit.
At the BJP headquarters in Ranchi, Sahu was received with grand celebrations. Party workers burst crackers, distributed sweets, and raised slogans in his honour. Marandi and state organisation general secretary Karmveer Singh welcomed him with a shawl and bouquet.
Marandi said the central leadership’s decision was apt, adding, “Sahu’s rise from the booth level to Parliament speaks volumes of his dedication. His efficiency will strengthen the organisation and guide it in a new direction.”
In his speech, Sahu reaffirmed that despite new responsibilities, his identity would remain that of a worker. He outlined his priorities — strengthening organisational unity, working closely with the cadre, exposing the failures of the state government, and ensuring the BJP’s return to power.
Several senior leaders and office-bearers were present at the event, including Rakesh Prasad, Vikas Pritam, Dr Pradeep Verma, Manoj Kumar Singh, Saroj Singh, Hemant Das, Shivpujan Pathak, Yogendra Pratap Singh, Varun Sahu, Balram Singh, and Jitendra Verma.
