New Delhi- On Teachers’ Day, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Teacher Awards on 45 outstanding educators at a special ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Teachers from Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, and Daman described the recognition as a “lifetime achievement” and thanked the government for honouring their commitment to education.
Bhavinniben Dineshbhai Desai from Daman expressed gratitude to the Education Ministry for acknowledging her work in reducing dropout rates and ensuring education till Class 8, along with initiatives on sex education, technology use, and student well-being.
Sunita from Haryana called the award “a great honour” and said receiving it from the President was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment, recognising her efforts in promoting holistic student development.
Kuldeep Gupta from J&K said the award was a matter of “immense pride,” adding that his focus on experimental teaching and joyful learning had been key to his journey.
Delhi’s Awadesh Jha highlighted initiatives like creating a ‘Deshbhakti’ park, a dedicated reading room, and carrying out 1,650 school activities. He also noted the investment of over ₹1 crore from Alakh Pandey, founder of Physics Wallah, for school development.
In her address, President Murmu praised the teachers for transforming classrooms and shaping children into capable citizens, stressing the need for greater investment in girls’ education.
This year’s awardees—24 men and 21 women—were selected through a rigorous three-stage process, representing educators from metropolitan cities, small towns, and remote villages, all recognised for their innovation and impact on student learning.
