Ranchi — Two major accidents in Jharkhand on Monday claimed five lives and left over 40 people injured, according to officials.
The first incident occurred in Godda district when a car traveling on the Mahagama–Ekchari main road lost control and fell into a gorge. Three victims — Jogendra Kumar Yadav, his wife Bindeshwari Devi, and neighbour Kaushalya Devi — died instantly. They were returning from Ganga Ghat in Kahalgaon with water for Navratri rituals. Police teams assisted villagers in retrieving the bodies and sent them for autopsy.
Later in the day, a bus and a truck collided head-on on the Ramgarh–Bokaro road near Chhattar Mandu. The bus driver and two women passengers lost their lives, while more than 40 passengers were injured. The truck driver, trapped inside the cabin, was rescued after hours but later died in hospital. The collision blocked the road for nearly three hours before the police cleared traffic.
